Ranking in Google is very important for every business who wants to have potential clients…
Many people are wondering why companies are vying to land on the top spot (or the first page, at least) of the Google search results. Why do businesses hire SEO experts to try to achieve this feat? And what’s all the fuss about discovering how to rank in Google Philippines, Brunei, US, Australia, or another country? Basically, it’s because when your company is on the first page of the search results, you’re likely to have the largest piece of the potential market who have made the search that you rank for. In other words, when you rank on a particular search, there’s a bigger chance that searchers will click on your link, go to your website, discover your products and services, and, if they’re happy, become a new customer.
But how significant is that? Let’s look at some numbers. According to comScore, there were 19.3 billion explicit core searches in March this year and 18.6 billion in April, and that’s just in the U.S. Explicit Core Search , as defined by the company, is “user engagement with a search service with the intent to retrieve search results.” What does this mean? It means that in just one month, almost 20 billion searches were made online in the U.S. with the intention of finding answers, information, products, or services.
Of that number, 12.6 billion were made using Google sites, 3.5 billion were made using Microsoft sites, and 1.9 billion with Yahoo! sites.
In May, there were 58 million users in Germany who went online using their desktops or laptops, 3.6 million in Finland, 13.5 million in the Netherlands, and 6.5 million in Sweden. Of these, Google sites consistently occupied the top of the list of online properties. In the Philippines, the current estimated number of Internet users is almost 40 million, with a user growth of 10 percent.
So, imagine, if you rank high in a particular search or keyword in your local Google site, then your potential market is likely to increase exponentially.
So how does one get to the top of Google search results page? Now, that is not a very simple question to answer. While most everyone can create their own website and venture into SEO (search engine optimization), experiment on keyword use, create rich content, learn to utilize available tools, and do their own market strategies and business planning, it does take a certain level of expertise to understand the ins-and-outs of SEO. SEO specialists and Web analysts spend lots of time studying the market, collecting and measuring data, crunching numbers, digging for information on people behaviour with regards to Internet use and searches, and formulating an approach specific to a company. They also stay abreast on the continuous changes in search engine algorithms, since these transform and morph to match consumer needs. If you want your company to be competitive online, then perhaps it’s time to consider getting help from an SEO professional.
